Kinship Care Project Lead (Children and Young People)

Purpose of the role

Big Hearts is looking to recruit a Kinship Care Project Lead (Children & Young People) to improve the quality of life of children and young people living in Kinship Care across the city of Edinburgh by providing group support, one to one support, information, advocacy and advice to build their confidence and self-esteem enabling them to better cope.

Times & availability

Full-time position, 35 hours per week. Set hours include:

Monday: 10am – 12pm

Tuesday : 10.30am – 12.30pm and 3.30pm – 7.30pm

Thursday: 3.30pm – 7.30pm.

Location

Our facilities are located in the Wheatfield Stand, Tynecastle Park, Edinburgh, EH11 2NZ.

Responsibilities

The main duties of the role include:

  • Working with children and young people living in Kinship Care
  • Providing individual and group support as required
  • Planning and facilitating a weekly programmes
  • Reporting and administrative duties

Person specification

Essential skills & expertise required for this role include:

  • A relevant professional qualification in social work, youth work, community education, childcare or other relevant qualification.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience of working with children and young people
  • An understanding of the issues faced by children and young people living in Kinship Care.
  • Experience of linking in with agencies in the statutory and voluntary sector.
