Big Hearts is thrilled to announce that BBC Children in Need has awarded a five figure grant over two years towards our work with teenage boys.
Today, our charity staff team is joining Pudsey Day celebrations, shining a light on the nation’s efforts to support disadvantaged children and young people.
The funding from BBC Children in Need comes to recognise the outstanding free services provided by Big Hearts so far, and will help our charity improve life outcomes for young boys across our community in 2025-2027.
The services will aim to provide a suitable environment where boys can feel safe, improve their emotional resilience and sense of belonging, across Big Hearts’ existing projects including That’s Me, Friday Night Lights, Switching Play, Counselling and Welcome Through Football.
Big Hearts’ Head of Development and Funding, Caryn Kerr, commented:
“It’s a fantastic milestone for Big Hearts to receive the support from a widely established organisation like BBC Children in Need. Boys in their teenage years can be particularly vulnerable and as the charity of Heart of Midlothian FC we are in a unique position to help make a positive difference through our projects. We’d encourage all our supporters to join us this Pudsey Day and say thank you to all who are involved in raising funds for BBC Children in Need, and ultimately supporting Big Hearts’ vital work in Edinburgh.”
