Big Hearts Community Trust today announces the biggest supporter volunteering initiative ever seen in Scottish Football – and fans will not be asked to pay a penny.
The launch of Big Hearts Supporters will see Heart of Midlothian’s official charity deliver this volunteering programme, working closely with the Heart of Midlothian and fans’ groups including The Foundation of Hearts.
In essence, a huge volunteering programme, Big Hearts Supporters will have opportunities to serve their community in many different ways and help deliver a social and cultural change within football.
Supporting or volunteering might include simple things like sharing a link to friends on Facebook or Twitter, through to giving a day of time to help across a range of projects. Big Hearts also anticipates building a group of Big Hearts Supporters who will be specially trained to support activity around helping families in need, such as training as counsellors. This may involve activities directly managed by Big Hearts, or supporting other charity or community activities as part of the, “Hearts family”.
