A new initiative for teenagers focused on early prevention will start this April at Tynecastle Park, as part of a national partnership across Scotland communities.
Big Hearts is proud to become a CashBack for Communities partner following the announcement of their Phase 7 funding which will run from 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2029.
Over the next three years, our charity will engage with, and support, 400 young people aged 13 to 15 through a new initiative: CashBack Bright Lights.
This uniquely funded provision will offer targeted activities and referral pathways across two existing Big Hearts’ projects: Switching Play and Friday Night Lights. Set to start next month, CashBack Bright Lights will focus on early intervention, community connections and positive opportunities for young people to build for their future.
We look forward to strengthening our close work with local schools, social workers, Police Scotland and health services to help teenagers at risk access our free daytime and evening projects at the Heart of Midlothian Stadium in Gorgie.
CashBack uses money recovered from seized criminal assets and reinvests it into communities. The funding supports young people by providing safe spaces and free activities to help them to feel empowered, connected, and confident about their futures.
From April 2026 to March 2029, CashBack for Communities will invest up to £26 million in projects supporting young people aged 10–25 across Scotland. Big Hearts is proud to feature alongside the 51 community organisations selected. Find out more.
