The countdown is on for young Jambo Lilia, who takes part in one of the junior races around Holyrood Park at the Edinburgh Marathon Festival this Saturday.
Coming from a proud family of Hearts supporters, six-year-old Lilia is set to complete her first race in maroon. Her journey began back in October when her mum, Leanne, contacted Big Hearts: “Lilia is a bundle of energy who is always on the go. She’s achieved so much already at such a young age.” They decided to take on the running challenge in aid of charity, and Big Hearts was an obvious choice.
At the time, Lilia had enjoyed being a matchday mascot at Tynecastle Park through her Junior Jambo membership, and was looking forward to her next experience. “We chose to fundraise for Big Hearts as it’s something in our community. Big Hearts is a charity I have personally seen in action through my work with disadvantaged families.”
With the big day getting closer, young Lilia has approached her training with dedication, hoping to cross the finish line with flying colours. “Lilia is very excited to do her charity run. It should be a breeze: she currently attends our local junior park run.”
Lilia has already exceeded her fundraising target with over £195 raised: an outstanding contribution to the charity’s community work and mission to change lives through the power of football. Check out Lilia’s fundraising efforts here.
All the team at Big Hearts wishes Lilia the best of luck in her challenge this weekend. We look forward to cheering her on alongside other Big Hearts fundraisers taking part in the Edinburgh Marathon Festival!
