In 2024, Big Hearts, the charity of Heart of Midlothian FC, introduced a weekly support group ‘Neuro Stars’ for neurodiverse young people and their families, who have or are in the process of receiving a neurodivergent diagnosis – including ADHD and autism.
During the school term, Neuro Stars supports 5-16 year old’s and their parents and carers, offering a supportive and inclusive environment where they can connect, learn, and thrive.
Working in partnership with the City of Edinburgh Council’s Lifelong Learning Parent Carer support, the groups aims to:
- help young people grow in confidence and build new friendships whilst trying new activities.
- provide specialist support to parents and carers, to help them feel less isolated and more confident in their role.
