Autism and Neurodiverse Friendly Football with Big Hearts

Coming this October in Gorgie, a new autism and neurodiverse friendly football initiative for young people aged 10 to 16.

Big Hearts Community Trust is welcoming interests to join our brand new partnership with Team United which will provide weekly autism and neurodiverse friendly football coaching to young people.

With the continous support from our close partner Theorise, our charity will help widen access to the beautiful game and support young people with additional needs.

This autism and neurodiverse friendly football initiative aims to take part in tournaments and collaborations with other groups across the season.

The project will kick-off in October 2025, with the group meeting on Mondays at Tynecastle High School.

Craig Wilson, Chief Exec at Big Hearts, commented: “We’re thrilled to be strengthening our collaboration with Theorise this season, with an ambitious new initiative that will see the Club’s charity partner with Team United to provide weekly inclusive football coaching”.

Ann Brown, CEO at Team United said: “Team United are thrilled to be partnering with Big Hearts, the official charity of Heart of Midlothian FC, to develop a new Autism and Neurodiversity team. This collaboration builds on the incredible work already supporting over 300 children and young people across 35 affiliated clubs. Together, we’re committed to creating more opportunities for neurodiverse young people to thrive through football.”
