Our School’s Out! project is back this winter to support local pupils

Between the 2nd and 8th of January, Big Hearts is running a holiday club aimed at local school pupils identified as vulnerable or at risk of social isolation.

With the Edinburgh pupils going back to school on the 9th of January, Big Hearts acknowledges that long school breaks can become challenging for families and young people at risk of social isolation.

Stepping up over the last 2 weeks of the holidays our School’s Out! project offers free breakfast, a nutritious lunch and a set of engaging activities for P3 to S1.

School’s Out! was launched over the summer 2018 to help vulnerable young people thrive outside school term. Big Hearts is delighted to continues its close partnership with the Teachers from Tynecastle High School, supporting school pupils in South West Edinburgh.

Following the success of the inaugural project last year, we’ve been thrilled to receive additional support this winter with a £2,5000 funding from the charity Cash for Kids and a £1,000 donation from the proceedings of the Hearts’ Fanzine Unknown Pleasures. Big Hearts would like to thank both partners for allowing us to make a significant difference over the festive holidays and well into the New Year.
