This summer, Big Hearts, the charity of Heart of Midlothian FC, is proud to deliver our biggest ever holiday provision, delivering 6 incredible weeks of fun, food and vital support for school children across our local community.
This essential support helps to bridge the gap during the long summer break, a time when many families face increased financial and emotional pressures.
Our charity will offer holiday support to young people aged 4 to 16 years old, to help combat holiday hunger and social isolation. Together, we are not just offering a summer programme – we are changing lives by creating new experiences, improving connections and helping young people to thrive.
Throughout the school holidays we will offer 21 full days of support which includes: breakfast, a nutritious lunch and afternoon snack each day, a safe and welcoming space to meet new friends, exciting day trips to Fox Lake, Edinburgh Combat Challenge and Five Sisters Zoo and fun indoor and outdoor activities – including silent discos, arts and craft sessions and team sports.
Working closely with Hearts Community Football and the Club’s Innovation Centre, this summer’s activities are backed by funding from the Scottish FA Extra Time Programme, a new collaborative between the Scottish FA and the Scottish Government.
Amanda Farquhar, Big Hearts’ Head of Delivery said: “We have seen firsthand how challenging it can be for so many families in our communities to access free support during holiday times.
We are delighted to be able to offer this provision throughout the summer holiday period, bringing new opportunities through collaborative working with the Community Football and Innovation Centre departments of Heart of Midlothian FC – right here at Tynecastle Park!”
